According to Reuters, on the 2nd local time, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said that Russia will limit the export of noble gases such as neon by the end of this year in response to the European Union’s previous restrictions on the country’s semiconductor exports.

Inert gases such as neon, krypton, and xenon are indispensable raw materials in the chip manufacturing process. According to relevant estimates, Russia's supply of noble gases accounts for 30% of the total global supply. After the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, global neon and xenon prices once jumped.

Analysts believe that Russia's inert gas export restrictions may exacerbate supply shortages in the global chip market.
